A few words from Ellie Reddy about SUNY Fredonia's Fashion Show to support InterVol's FAB project in Belize---the show was organized to be an example to new teachers on "what not to wear" while student teaching...
Well, I am flying high……. What an amazing evening at the fashion show. When I got there at 7:00 we all practiced the order that we would walk in the fashion show -- where to walk, turn, etc. The next thing I know I am being told that I am the last person in the fashion show -- not knowing what was going to happen or what they had planned for me. Well, because I had this "stunning" outfit on I decided to really ham it up -- I mean if you are going to be an idiot you may as well go all the way. When I was walking back they told me to turn around and go back to the back again --- the Teacher Education Club then came forward with these boxes. They had raised money and purchased two brand new digital cameras, the cases, and the disks for the pictures for our Belize project!!!!!!!
Now you know me…. Never at a loss for words. Well, they got me. I was totally surprised! I just stood there in tears!
So, I will hand those over to you. I am so proud of my kids. When they presented them they were thanking me for doing the project and giving them the opportunity to be involved. I am so amazed by their support and enthusiasm. It was so nice to see them all there. I am guessing that we had about 400 students at the fashion show.
There were a lot of pictures taken and an article will be in our local newspaper since the reporters for the Dunkirk Observer were there. I was also interviewed today for an article to be placed in the college newspaper.
What an amazing day!
Thank you Ellie---we TOO are proud of your students--- they are truly an example of what a little creativity and a lot of heart can accomplish!
